Custom Order Process
📋Before filling out a Custom Quote Form, please make sure you've familiarized yourself with our Custom Order Process and you've looked over our Style & Price Guide for Customs.
That way you are familiar with our work, you know what we can make, and our general pricing.
YOU MUST OWN THE CHARACTER RIGHTS OF THE CHARACTER YOU ARE LOOKING TO COMMISSION.
We kindly ask that you only fill out the Custom Quote Form if you are ready to commission us!
You aren't obligated to buy by filling out a form. However, quoting is time consuming. If you're just window shopping, and don't have 1/3rd of the cost of a custom to put down to start your order, then please wait until you do. We will be here. :)
You must be at least 18 years of age to commission us, or your guardian will have to make the purchase for you.
🍋It’s not the final price, but it’s close.
The estimate is based on the items you selected in the form, your reference images, and character description. On average - the more complex (the more spots, stripes, wings horns, etc) your character has, the more it will cost. This is because it will take more work to create it.
Get back to us if you're interested!
If the price is within range for you and you would like to move towards purchasing, then let us know! We are happy to discuss other details with you, or re-quote you if you've decided to add or subtract various items. We may also have some tips for how to make the design cheaper if it has a lot of features that can be simplified - like reducing the number of stripes or spots.
From here we can discuss your order in depth with you! We want to know:
- Exactly which details and components you want
- Any specifics you have on style preferences (ex: sleeve length)
- Any specifics you have on material and fit preferences
- Whether you want to pay in full or do a payment plan.
- If you have a specific event you're aiming for.
💌Once we know the details we can provide you with a formal invoice
We provide you with a PDF invoice that contains all of the details of your order as per our discussions. Please review it - your order is made to these specifications!
We will also send you this invoice through Paypal (or payment type of your choosing). Now you can pay for your order!
Changes from the invoice details or add-ons not covered in the invoice can incur more charges. We will never begin work on something before you have agreed to pay for it.
💸You can pay in full, or do payment plans.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SHIPPING IS CHARGED UPON COMPLETION OF COMMISSIONS. This is NOT calculated in the quote.
We will also need your clothing size in accordance with our size charts. Or you can send us a list of measurements. We will email a list to you with notes on how to take them.
About Payment Plans
Payment Plans require you to be able to put down 1/3rd of the total cost of your commission up front. After that you can make monthly installments until it's paid off. We recommend paying in installments of at least $200 a month.
We do not begin work until 100% of payment has been received.
If something comes up in your life where you need to post-pone payments awhile, we can work with you. Please email us directly to give us a head's up before payments elapse. There's also the possibility that you could remove elements from your commission in order to lessen the price (Ex: downgrading some details to make it cheaper).
**IF WE DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU/RECEIVE A PAYMENT FOR MORE THAN THREE (3) MONTHS, YOU WILL RUN THE RISK OF YOUR CUSTOM COMMISSION'S PRICE INCREASING DUE TO INCREASES IN SUPPLY, LABOR, AND TIME COSTS.**
**IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE ANY FORM OF COMMUNICATION FROM YOU, AND YOU ELAPSED ON PAYMENTS TOWARDS YOUR PAYMENT PLAN FOR TWELVE (12) MONTHS, WE WILL CONSIDER YOUR COMMISSION AS ABANDONED, AND THAT YOU HAVE FORFEIT ALL PAYMENTS MADE.**
About Refunds
Please be sure you want the commission, and it is within your budget before purchase!
Refunds are only available for customs that are currently in production. In production is defined as the point in time where a customer has begun paying for their custom.
Please email us directly if you have any reason to seek a refund. We would like the opportunity to work with you to ensure you are getting what you want.
If you decide to get a refund, we automatically keep at least 25% of the full commission amount as a fee for supplies and communication. That rate increases as we get farther into your construction process. We will determine how much is due for refund based on the amount of work we have completed.
Once a Custom has been completed, it is no longer eligible for a refund.
🧵⭐We do not begin patterning orders until the customer has paid in full and we have received their sizing information.
We work this way for efficiency. It ensures we can give a lot of attention to your commission in a consistent fashion over the few weeks it takes to get created. If we started during the payment process, it would sit on a shelf half-done awaiting final payment. It's nice for us to be able to concentrate on it fully to see it through.
The construction process takes up to 1 year from the point where we have all your payments and sizing.
We take the time to hash out the specifications with you ahead of time, we get you in our queue so we know just what projects we have going on ahead of time, and we are ready to go when it's your custom's turn!
- Things that could delay your Turn Around Time
- Not sending your sizing in a timely fashion
- Not responding to email communications (especially when we send WIPs we need approved) in a timely fashion
- Changes to designs or add-ons mid-way through commission
📸If you like the WIPs, we move forward. If you don’t, then we do edits, within reason.
We provide our customers with WIPs during their commission projects so they can get status updates, and we can get approval before moving forward on big things. (For example: we send WIPS of the cut out fabric before sewing it together.) It’s a lot harder to go back and fix things once they are sewn or finished, so early check-ins like this make everything run smoother.
We work from your reference images and detailed invoice to create your commission, but there’s always going to be the potential for tweaks and small adjustments along the way, even when we have adhered closely to the ref. Getting approvals from you means we are listening, and we want to see your vision through - It’s part of the process!
Please know that if you want changes that go against previously discussed details or previously confirmed WIPs, then we might need to charge extra for those changes to happen. (For example: if you ordered a 4ft long tail, but upon seeing it decide it should be 2ft long.) This is because we have already worked to your specifications and it’s causing extra work to make those adjustments. Of course we will let you decide if you want to pay for the adjustment, or if we should proceed as-is.
We send you final images of your finished custom.
Usually we photo on a model unless it's just a few components. This way you can see the suit from various angles, and get a sense of how it wears. Please look over these thoroughly because we would like to make any edits, if needed, before it leaves our studio.
Once you've approved your suit we will invoice you for the shipping cost!
Once paid, your package will arrive via FedEx Ground Shipping (or FedEx International Economy if applicable), unless discussed otherwise. The average shipping time is 3-5 business days within the US, and 7-12 days internationally.
If you like, we also offer the option of at-con delivery, provided we are going to that particular convention.
😻Take it all out of the box and try it on!
We will supply a basic write-up for how to wear and take care of your custom. Just email us if you need extra wearing tips.
Please make sure everything fits well.
If you have any concerns, questions, or issues, please contact us right away so we can discuss. If you find something to be defective, please let us know and we can arrange an edit.
